R Ashwin’s Daughter Motivates Father Before 100th Test
Ashwin felt immensely grateful to receive his 100th cap in the presence of his family and teammates. It was a moment he wouldn’t trade for anything else.
Before Day 1’s play began, the BCCI interviewed Ashwin’s family. His wife, Prithi, spoke about his years of dedication and hard work, while his daughters, overwhelmed by the support, simply wished him, “Congratulations, Daddy, do well.”

βItβs been a lot actually. The build-up to it has been unbelievable. We were looking to look at it as another game but I donβt think that happens when you come close to the milestone. So, considering the last few weeks that he has had, we think that this is a great start to whatβs to come and itβs an insane achievement how far he has come. With the help of his mates, family and the massive support system that he has got. His own hardwork β itβs surreal. A bit lost now, but it is very nice, βΒ Ashwinβs wife said.
In his 100th Test match, R Ashwin had a remarkable performance, taking four wickets as India bowled out England for 218 on the first day of the fifth Test. However, it was his fellow spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, who stole the show with a five-wicket haul, his third in his career. Yadav’s brilliant bowling led to England losing seven wickets for just 43 runs.
