IPL 2024: CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan Breaks Silence On The Next Captain Of CSK After MS Dhoni – MS Dhoni, the charismatic former Indian captain and the current Chennai Super Kings captain, has been a legendary figure in Indian cricket. He has won all three ICC trophies as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team. Moreover, he has led the Chennai Super Kings right from the start of the IPL in 2008 and has won 5 IPL titles. He is the most successful IPL captain, alongside Rohit Sharma. He led CSK to their 5th IPL title in 2023, and CSK will come to the IPL in 2024 as the defending champions.

He is not just a captain for the CSK; he is an emotion for all the Chennai Super Kings fans. They respect and celebrate him as the demigod. The 42-year-old is getting ready to play IPL 2024, and this will probably be his last IPL season. He has struggled with injuries in the last season, and his batting form has also gone down. Now, the most glaring question is, what’s next? Who will replace MS Dhoni as the CSK captain? Replacing such a figure on the side is not easy. Whoever comes to that role will have huge shoes to fill and big expectations to be met.

The CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Viswanathan, shared insights regarding the appointment of the captain and vice-captain for the team. He mentioned that there have been discussions internally about this matter. However, Mr. Srinivasan, a key figure within the team, has emphasised that discussions regarding captaincy should be kept internal. Viswanathan stated that they should refrain from public discussions on this topic and leave the decision-making process to the coach and the captain.

According to Srinivasan’s directive, the captain and coach will decide on the appointments, and once finalised, they will convey the information to Viswanathan, who will then share it with the public. Viswanathan stressed the importance of maintaining confidentiality and letting the team management handle the decision-making process regarding leadership roles.

“See, there have been internal talks. But, Mr. Srinivasan has made it very clear. Let’s not talk about captain and vice-captain appointments. Let’s leave it to the coach and the captain to decide. Let them decide and convey the information to me, and then I will convey it to you all. He has said that ‘the captain and the coach will decide and give us a directive, till then let’s all keep quiet’,” CSK CEO Viswanathan told S Badrinath in the latter’s YouTube show.
