For the unversed, it was in September 2022, when the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was killed in police custody after she was arrested for not wearing the hijab properly. Mahsa’s death triggered worldwide protests in which more than 185 people have been reportedly killed in Iran itself. Several political leaders including the likes of  Bill Clinton, Justin Trudeau, Nancy Pelosi, and others have condemned Mahsa’s death.

The controversy started after Urvashi Rautela had alleged that the cricketer waited for hours in a hotel lobby to meet her and left her 16-17 missed calls. In an interview with a news portal, the actress revealed the details while refusing to name Rishabh Pant. Shortly after this revelation, Rishabh penned a cryptic Instagram story that read:

“It’s funny how people lie in interviews just for some meagre popularity and for hitting the headlines. Sad how some people are thirsty for fame and name. May God bless them.” Reacting to Rishabh’s post, Urvashi had cryptically posted, “Chotu bhaiyaa (young brother) should play bat ball…main koyi munni nahi hoon badnaam hone (I am no naive girl to be defamed) with young kiddo darling tere liye #RAKSHABANDHAN mubarak ho. #RPCHOTUBHAIYYA #CougarHunter and #Don’ttakeadvantageofasilentgirl.”
