India’s young opening batter Prithvi Shaw continued with his brilliant form as he smashed his maiden hundred in the shortest format of the game, ending a long wait for a three-figure score in T20s. Prithvi hit a 46-ball hundred for Mumbai against Assam in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Friday,
Prithvi played a blistering knock of 134 from 61 balls, smashing 9 sixes and 13 boundaries, continuing his stunning form in Indian domestic competitions. He had gotten to his half-century in just 19 balls before smashing a daddy hundred. All thanks to Prithvi’s blistering knock, Mumbai posted 230 runs for 3 in 20 overs against Assam.
It was the joint 8th fastest half-century by a batter in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. India wicketkeeper-batter and Delhi star Rishabh Pant hold the record for the fastest fifty in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament. He had smashed a 34-ball century against Himachal Pradesh in January 2018.
Notably, Shaw’s name was missing from the squad and that decision by the selectors raised many eyebrows as the Mumbai batter was scoring decent runs in the domestic circuit. Fitness has always been a concern for the 22-year-old Mumbai-based batter as he failed the yo-yo test earlier this year ahead of IPL 2022.
Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with reactions from fans to the stunning century by Prithvi Shaw. From cricketers to experts and fans, everyone is taking to their social media to hail the brilliance of the young cricketer. There were many who slammed BCCI for not giving an opportunity to the young player.
A stunning ton by Prithvi Shaw in 46 balls in SMAT. If there’s anyone who deserves a national call rn, it’s him. 👏

Prithvi Shaw is too good for this level. Bowlers getting smashed by Shaw in SMAT shouldn’t be judged. Poor bowlers.

Credit where due,Ganguly recognized a gem in Sehwag, made him open, backed him to hilt and gave us a guy who believed there’s only one way to play the game!
And then there’s Prithvi Shaw!
Difficult people with abundance of talent just need better handling! https://t.co/82w5UepIWx
