As Captain Cool stepped down from captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL), fans flooded social media with emotional messages. Former and current cricketers also shared their reactions online after Dhoni handed over the captaincy reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
However, the response of current India skipper Rohit Sharma garnered the most attention. Known for their strong bond, Dhoni and Rohit have faced off numerous times in the IPL, treating fans to thrilling encounters between Dhoni’s CSK and Rohit’s MI.
Both players have an impressive track record, having won 5 IPL trophies each as captains in the league. However, fans will miss seeing them in action as captains in IPL 2024. Hardik Pandya has taken over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma at MI, while Gaikwad has assumed the role of CSK captain.
