Mumbai Indians’ batting coach, Kieron Pollard, believes in Ishan Kishan’s abilities despite his recent struggles in IPL 2024. Pollard is optimistic that Kishan will recover from his slump and demonstrate his talent.
Ishan Kishan made his comeback at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, March 24. He missed India’s recent Test series against South Africa and England, resulting in his exclusion from the BCCI central contract list with Shreyas Iyer.
Kieron Pollard Extends His Support To Under Fire Ishan Kishan

In their first match of the tournament, Kishan faced a tough challenge. He was out for zero against Azmatullah Omarzai, who was making his debut for the Titans. Omarzai’s performance set the tone for the Titans’ defense of 168 runs.
Kishan struggled against Omarzai’s deliveries with the new ball. He faced three inswingers before attempting to play a ball that was moving away, leading to his dismissal without scoring any runs. This tough start posed a challenge for the 25-year-old in the current tournament.
After the game, Kieron Pollard mentioned that Ishan Kishan is in good shape and expects him to make important contributions in the upcoming matches. He urged fans and pundits to continue supporting Kishan. Pollard said:
“I don’t understand the controversial circumstances. You have stated clearly as to why he wasn’t playing so I guess we need to take that into consideration. Everything as a player and individual as well, playing international sports is very very tough, it’s not very easy as people would think,”
He added: “For him, again, he did not score tonight so, we can look at all sorts of different things, but I said it’s a long tournament, he is an experienced guy within our setup and we expect big things from Ishan, he is in a good space, he has been practicing well and has been doing fairly decently, so hopefully within the next couple of games, you can see great performances from him and all of you will continue to laud his brains when he does that,”
