Hardik led Gujarat Titans to an IPL title in the first season and to the final in the next season. However, after he was appointed a the captain of MI, Rohit Sharma fans went bonkers. Pandya was severely criticised and abused on social media. The fans felt that the legend Rohit Sharma has been disrespected and could accept the him playing just a player.

If all that was not enough, Hardik Pandya was welcomed with boos and abuses in the opening match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. He was jeered, and also taunted with chants of ‘Rohit, Rohit’ in Ahmedabad. Moreover, Mumbai Indians lost the game from a favourable position during the chase. In the second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, the reception was exactly the same.

Hardik Pandya was welcomed with boos, taunts, abuses and jeers from the fans present in the stadium. Moreover, Mumbai Indians lost that game as well. Sunrisers Hyderabad posted the highest total in IPL history. During the chase, only Hardik Pandya did not fare with the bat as he scored just 24 runs and played 20 balls. He was severely criticised for his strike rate, which resulted in MI not successfully chasing the total.

All these taunts and abuses are definitely taking a toll on Hardik’s psyche. He is very low on confidence right now and is grasping for support. At the end of the game, the fans taunted Hardik Pandya yet again with chants of ‘Rohit, Rohit’. Pandya seemed frustrated and banged his hand on the fencing while returning to the pavilion. It is definitely going to be a very hard time for Hardik Pandya in IPL 2024.
