Despite the outcome, CSK fans were thrilled to witness Dhoni’s classic performance. As excitement soared among fans, an old tweet from Dhoni, dating back 10 years, resurfaced on social media and rapidly gained viral attention.

Back in 2014, Dhoni tweeted: “Doesn’t matter which team wins, I am here for entertainment.” Nowadays, Dhoni doesn’t often share posts on social media.

Sunday’s match against Delhi perfectly echoed Dhoni’s statement from 10 years ago. Despite CSK’s defeat, their ex-captain delighted everyone with his entertaining performance.

Facing a challenging target of 192 runs, the Super Kings tried to chase it down with efforts from Ajinkya Rahane (45), Dhoni (37 not out), and Daryl Mitchell (34). However, the Capitals had too much firepower for them. CSK could only reach 171 for six.

With CSK needing 58 runs off 18 balls, Dhoni came to bat for the first time this season amidst chants of “Dhoni Dhoni.” He delighted his fans with some impressive shots.

Dhoni hit two fours in the first three balls, and although he was dropped in the second ball, he followed it with a six over extra cover. However, CSK couldn’t catch up despite his efforts, needing an impossible 41 runs off the last over.

Dhoni, showing glimpses of his old self, gave his fans something to cheer with a four and a one-handed six off the first two balls. He then hit another four and a six off the last ball, but it was too late for CSK.
