Rohit Sharma Gets An Embarrassing Record To His Name

India captain Rohit Sharma is a behemoth in world cricket when it comes to white-ball cricket. While it is in the ODIs, that Rohit Sharma has his biggest achievements, the India opener has also been a premier T20 opener for India and for Mumbai Indians.

In fact, 35-year-old Rohit Sharma is the leading T20I run-scorer in the world! With 3737, Sharma tops the chart currently, with his teammate and former skipper Virat Kohli behind him with 3712 runs. Sharma has also struck 4 hundreds and 28 fifties in T20Is.

However, with his latest knock, Rohit Sharma has also bagged a couple of embarrassing, unwanted records. In the third T20I vs South Africa, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck, bowled by fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. In the first T20I as well, Rabada had nipped out the Indian captain for a duck.

Sharma now has a total of 10 ducks in T20Is, which is the joint-second-most in T20Is. Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien has bagged the most number of ducks in T20Is – 12. Along with Rohit Sharma, 4 other batters – Dilshan, Soumya Sarkar, Paul Stirling and Umar Akmal – have registered 10 ducks in T20Is.

Another unwanted record Rohit Sharma has made is of getting out most times in single digit scores in men’s T20Is. Of his 134 T20I inning, Sharma has got out 43 times in single digit. Kevin O’Brien is behind with 42 followed by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim who has 40 single-digit scores.

Renowned statistician Kausthub Gudipati brought out this stat to light:

Most times out at single digit score in men’s T20Is:

43 – Rohit Sharma

42 – Kevin O’Brien

40 – Mushfiqur Rahim

39 – Mohammad Nabi

37 – Shahid Afridi

Meanwhile, India registered another bilateral series win. They defeated South Africa 2-1 in the T20I series following a 2-1 series win over Australia. India’s squad for the T20 World Cup will depart for Australia on October 6. A second-string side will take on South Africa in 3 T20Is starting Thursday.
