India captain Rohit Sharma has denied rumors suggesting that he met with head coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Ajit Agarkar during the Indian Premier League to discuss India’s plans for the T20 World Cup. Recent reports had suggested that Rohit had a two-hour-long meeting with Dravid and Agarkar in Mumbai, focusing on topics such as Hardik Pandya’s bowling fitness for the T20 World Cup squad and the possibility of Virat Kohli opening alongside him.
Rohit Sharma Denies T20 World Cup Meeting Report Regarding Hardik Pandya

Rohit Sharma addressed the rumors during his appearance on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, dismissing them as “fake.” He cautioned fans against giving credence to information that doesn’t originate directly from him, Ajit Agarkar, Rahul Dravid, or the BCCI.
“I haven’t met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru. He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That’s about it,” Rohit revealed.
“We haven’t met, to be honest. I think in today’s day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake,” he added.
Hardik Pandya’s performance in IPL 2024 has raised concerns, especially as he hasn’t been bowling regularly and has conceded runs at a high rate. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has been in exceptional form with the bat, leading the run-scoring charts in the tournament.
Previously, there were doubts about Kohli’s spot in the T20 World Cup squad, but his stellar performances in IPL 2024 have silenced those discussions.
As for India’s T20 World Cup squad, the BCCI is likely to announce it later this month or in the first week of May, putting an end to the anticipation.
