Sanju Samson, the talented wicket-keeper batter, has not found regular chances in the Indian Cricket Team. Hew as present in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 as well. However, he did not get any game during the World Cup. Rishabh Pant played in the playing XI as India won the T20 World Cup 2024 undefeated. Now, Samson has been among the runs in the series against Zimbabwe and also scored a century in his last ODI against South Africa, However, there are chances that he will still be dropped for the upcoming series.

He has been leading Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and has a big fanbase on social media. The fans have been vocal about him not getting chances in the Indian Cricket Team. Now, leg spinner, Amit Mishra has revealed that Samson won’t be playing the next T20 World Cup in 2026 unless he puts up some extraordinary performances.

Mishra stated that Samson is too old and selectors generally pick young blood ninth T20I team. By the start of the 2026 T20 World Cup, Samson will be 31 years old. He also took a sly dig at former Indian captain Virat Kohli and said that he introduced the policy of not including old players in the T20I setup. He also said that Kohli played his last T20I at the age of 35.

Amit Mishra said: “I don’t think so. He is old now. There is such a heavy influx of youngsters in the team this concept was introduced by Virat Kohli – that in T20Is, young players perform more, India need them more. He himself is 35.”

Now, it remains to be seen whether Samson gets some regular chances in the Indian limited overs setup going forward.
