However, as per reports, Suryakumar Yadav will be back in the Indian Cricket Team as a batter during the 3-game T20I series against Zimbabwe. Hence, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the one who faces the axe from the team. In the first two T20I’s vs Zimbabwe, Shubman Gill opened with Abhishek Sharma. From the third T20I, Gill opened with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rituraj Gaikwad had to bat at number 4. So, with Suryakumar Yadav back in the set-up, he is set to bat at number 4 and hence Ruturaj Gaikwad’s place in the team is not permanent.

Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj will be back in the team and Hardik Pandya is set to lead the team. Rohit Sharma has already announced his retirement from T20I cricket. So, Hardik Pandya is set to now get the nod as the full-time t20I skipper. The series against Sri Lanka will also be the first assignment for the new Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir. Virat Kohli, Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja will not be in the Indian T20I team after the trio has announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game.
