Gautam Gambhir has taken over as the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team after Rahul Dravid moved away from the post after the competition of his contract post the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win. Gambhir will have his new contract till the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. He will be in charge for the first time as the Head Coach of any team and his tenure will start with the 3-game T20I series against Sri Lanka in July.
Gambhir has always been a feisty character and a man with great mind. He was appointed as the mentor of Kolkata Knight riders before the start of the IPL 2024 and his insights have led the team to an IPL title win in 2024. Moreover, he was the captain of KKR in the other two IPL titles won in 2012 and 2014. He loves to win and has given his all on the field. There is no doubt that he will lead the Indian Cricket Team as the Head Coach with the same mindset.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli has been a loyal servant of the Indian Cricket in the last decade. he has been the best batter in the world and is another serial winner who always gives his all on the field to win games for his country. Kohli has carried the burden of India’s batting all over the world, scored runs consistently and stood up under pressure. He won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and retired from the format with a trophy in his bag.
Gambhir and Kohli has had fights on the field and war of words during the IPL games. In 2013, Gambhir and Kohli faced off for a war of words and feisty fight on the field during RCB vs KKR game. In 2023, Kohli and mentor Gambhir faced off yet again after the LSG vs RCB game.

However, Gambhir after becoming the Head Coach has stated that there won’t be any issues between him and Kohli. He stated that he and Kohli had exchanged messages after his appointment. He called Kohli a world class athlete and assured the fans both of them will work hard for the team together.
