India team skipper Rohit Sharma is hailed as one of the finest batters of modern cricket. Though the destructive batter has registered several records and has achieved many milestones in the shortest format of the game, Rohit Sharma also achieved a record that he will not be proud of.  As the Indian cricket team locked its horns with South Africa last night in the series opener at Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, Rohit Sharma failed to make it big with the bat. 

After India captain  Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to put the visitors in, Chahar and Arshdeep gave a solid start to their team. Arshdeep and Chahar reduced the visitors to just nine runs for the loss of five wickets. Arshdeep, who was making a comeback after a breather, turned out to be the pick of the bowlers for the Indian side.

On a pitch where South Africa managed only 106 runs in 20 overs, the Indian side also started on a poor note as they lost their famed top-two Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli cheaply.. While Rohit was dismissed for a duck, Virat was also dismissed cheaply with only 3 runs in his account. It was Rohit’s  9th duck in the shortest format of the game when he was dismissed on the second ball by Kagiso Rabada.

Sharmahas reached a record that he will not be proud of. He has the most ducks in T20I in comparison to other Indian players. Yes, you read that right.. While Rohit and Virat failed badly, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav stood up for the side and chased down the target.

KL Rahul started off slow but soon he accelerated his innings and registered a stunning half-century as he played a terrific knock of 51 runs off 56 balls. His knock was laced with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Talking about SKY’s knock, he once again impressed everyone with his brilliant strokeplay. He also registered a half-century off 33 balls, smashing 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, Rohit’s lukeworm form ahead of the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma’s form has become a matter of concern for the Indian cricket team. Fans on social media were left disappointed with the performance of Rohit in the 1dt T20I match and as a result social media has been buzzing with the tweets and posts for Rohit Sharma.
