1. Deepti Sharma was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in 1997. Her father is a retired Chief Booking Supervisor in the Indian Railways. 

2. She gained her interest in cricket because of her brother Sumit Sharma, who was also a fast bowler. She used to accompany her brother to Ekalavya Sports Stadium to watch net sessions and matches. 

3. One day, during her visit to the stadium, Deepti was asked to throw the ball back into the field, this is when she grabbed everyone’s attention. She threw the ball straight to the stumps and hit the bullseye.

4. The then India’s national women’s selector, Hemlata Kala, spotted her at the ground, which turned out to be the ‘turning-point’ in her career. 

5. Hemlata Kala helped her in practice and took her to various camps in Delhi and Allahabad. Soon she developed her all-around skills and caught the attention of Rita Dey, who mentored her further. 

6. After having made her WODI debut in the ICC  Women’s Championship against South Africa in 2014, all-rounder Deepti Sharma didn’t take too long to impress everyone. Her maiden WODI hundred against Ireland in 2017 also ended up being a part of a 320-run world record opening partnership.
