Suryakumar Yadav is arguably India’s current best T20 batsman. In fact, the right-hander has been in staggering form since his T20I debut last March.
In 24 T20I innings, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 771 runs at an average of 38 and strike rate of 176 – which is quite astonishing for a batter with his average.
Looking at the numbers, since Suryakumar’s T20I debut on March 14, 2021, only 7 batsmen have scored more T20I runs than SKY, but all of them have strike rate of less than 150 in this period while Suryakumar has batted at over 170 strike rate.

Pakistani journalist gets trolled for calling Suryakumar Yadav “overrated”

So it was quite shocking, and hilarious at the same time, when one of the Pakistan journalists, Arfa Feroz Zake, labelled Suryakumar Yadav at amongst the “most overrated” batsmen in the shortest format. On one hand, while many claim Suryakumar is in a dream form – he’s the fourth-highest T20I run-scorer in the world in 2022 – this Pakistani journalist reckons SKY shouldn’t be compared with Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.
“Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most overrated batter in T20! Don’t know which pity opinions had started his comparison with the great Babar Azam! #INDvPAK,” the Pakistani journalist Arfa Feroz Zake tweeted after Suryakumar got out for 13, a rare failure of his in a fickle T20 format, on Sunday.
Here is his tweet:

The journalist was then slammed and trolled heavily by netizens for his tweet.
‘He’s 10x better in t20 than Babar. Babar is so selfish with no intent to score quick,” one of the users commented.
“True comparing Babar to Sky, lowest point of sky career,” another fan tweeted.
“Cricket is a team game ❤️day… This is India, not Pak team to concentrate on individual score and ranking. Everyone got out trying to score runs and that’s what matters,” said another.
“Who compares SKY with anyone? He is in the league of his own. It’s you guys who compare him with the player you have mentioned,” asserted one SKY fan.

Well, it also seems like Feroz has chosen to ignore the ICC ranking – the same ICC ranking on which Babar Azam’s fans have been taking pride on and boasting about him being on the top of T20I charts, although Babar has continuously copped criticism for his strike rate – because Suryakumar Yadav recently had been number 2 on the T20I rankings, right behind Babar, before falling back to number 3, displaced by Rizwan.
By the end of the Asia Cup 2022, though, there could be more changes in these top three slots because SKY has been plundering the ball nicely while Babar has registered three cheap scores, all less than 15.
