Veteran Indian star bowler Ishant Sharma is celebrating his 34th birthday today on Friday and wishes have been pouring in from all the corners from fans and the cricket fraternity. The veteran pacer has been a crucial part of the Indian cricket team for more than a decade now.

Ishant Sharma first rose to the limelight when he bowled that iconic spell to Ricky Ponting in the Perth Test in 2008. His sensational bowling spell troubled Ricky Ponting, who is hailed as one of the greatest batters to have ever played the game. Though, he kickstarted his career with a blockbuster performance, his Test cricket career has been a roller coaster ride. In 33 Tests, Ishant Sharma averaged just 25.3 from 2016 to 2021. He was dropped from the Indian Test squad earlier this year after the emergence of the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur in the bowling lineup of the Indian cricket team. He last appeared for the side in November 2021 during a Test against New Zealand.

Talking about his overall numbers, Ishant has represented India in 105 Tests so far, taking 311 wickets. Ishant remains only the second pacer to reach 100 Tests after the legendary Kapil Dev. He is also among the 12 Indians to have played over 100 Test matches

Meanwhile, as the cricketer is celebrating his 34th birthday today, social media has been buzzing with amazing birthday wishes and tributes for the veteran pacer. Among many, former Indian cricketer and world cup hero Suresh Raina also took to his social media and posted a beautiful birthday wish for his friend and former teammate. In his tweet, he wishes for good health and success always. He wrote:

“Happy Birthday  @ImIshant brother! Super talented, kind and an amazing friend, wishing you good health and success always! Have a splendid day.”
