The Harare Sports Club saw a total takeover on Friday. India’s 14-year-old phenom, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, tore through the England bowling attack in the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 Final. The young left-hander opened the batting with such aggression that he effectively ended the contest within the first 25 overs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Rewrites History: 3 Records That Fell in the 2026 U-19 World Cup Final

Vaibhav Suryavanshi racked up 175 runs off just 80 balls. This explosive start pushed India toward a massive total. The trophy is the main goal, but Suryavanshi’s personal performance wiped out records that had stood for over a decade.

Suryavanshi’s knock wasn’t just big; it was record-shattering. Here is how the history books changed:

1. Highest Individual Score in a U-19 World Cup Final

For fourteen years, Unmukt Chand’s 111 not out against Australia in 2012 was the gold standard. That performance set a high bar for any championship match. Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn’t just beat that mark; he blew past it. His 175 made him the first player to ever cross 150 in a U-19 World Cup Final.

He moved past former highs set by Chand, Manjot Kalra (101*), and Jarrad Burke (100*). He has set a new ceiling that will be incredibly tough for the next generation to reach. In a staggering display of power, 150 of his runs came purely from boundaries (15 fours and 15 sixes).

2. Fastest Century in a U-19 World Cup Final

Pressure usually slows down scoring in a big final. Yet, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played like the occasion didn’t bother him at all. He reached his hundred in only 55 balls. That blitz gave him the record for the fastest century ever seen in the tournament’s final.

It also stands as the quickest hundred by an Indian in U-19 World Cup history. This beat the 69-ball record Raj Angad Bawa set in 2022. He hit his fifty in 32 balls. Then he found another gear, taking only 23 more deliveries to reach triple digits.

3. Most Sixes in a Single U-19 World Cup Edition

Before this game, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis held the record for most sixes in one tournament. He hit 18 in 2022. Vaibhav Suryavanshi walked into the final with 15 sixes already. By the time he left the crease, he had cleared the ropes 15 more times in this single game.

This brought his tournament total to 30 sixes. He now holds the record for the most sixes in a single U-19 World Cup campaign. His 15 sixes against England also set a new high for a single U-19 World Cup innings. He toppled the 18-year-old record of 12 held by Australia’s Michael Hill since 2008.
