Well, Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis are two emerging superstars of South African cricket. Both the right-handed batters were a part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League this year. In IPL 2022, Brevis got the chance to feature in seven games and he impressed everyone with his power hitting.
The 19-year-old had made headlines for his stunning performance in the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the start of this year. Brevis had finished the tournament as the highest run-getter, following which he was roped in by the 5-times IPL champs for a sum of Rs. 3 crores in the mega-auctions.
Talking about Stubbs’ knock, he came to bat when team India was struggling at 136/5 in 14 overs in their chase of 235 runs. Stubbs took matters into his own hand and took the game by storm. He reached his maiden T20I half-century in just 19 balls. His knock helped his side reach closer to the target, however, he was dismissed by Richard Gleeson in the 19th over. Proteas ultimately lost the game by 41 runs.
Michael Vaughan Also Hailed Stubbs
Former England captain Michael Vaughan also praised Stubbs for his incredible knock against England. Vaughan hailed Stubbs as the ‘Superstar in the making’.
