Mumbai Indians is now one of the most successful teams in the history of IPL and Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper of IPL, after having led his team to the victory for the fifth time. However, ever since the franchise has won the IPL title this time, there has been a debate going on social media among the fans and cricket experts.
There are many who are saying that Rohit Sharma would’ve won the IPL so many times even while leading other teams like RCB or any other team. Among many, former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra also joined the bandwagon and also claimed the same thing. However, now the skipper of Mumbai Indians has finally responded to such talks and he isn’t pleased at all.
Recently, Rohit Sharma was quoted saying that there is no reason to think if he can win the title for other teams. He further revealed how the franchise and he are going hand-in-hand when it comes to planning. He said:
“Lot of people, I hear say that can he (Rohit) do it with other teams? Firstly, why shall I need to do it with other teams? There is a certain way this franchise wants to go and same direction I want to go as well, both as a player and leader,”
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma went on to claim that the team didn’t go on to become good overnight. He lauded the team for believing in the team every time they take the field. Most of the players have been playing for 4 or more years now. Rohit said:
“Did this team become good overnight? No. It’s just that this franchise doesn’t believe in chopping and changing. And every player, including Rohit Sharma, was available (2011) at auctions. Just that MI picked and believed in building a team,”
