Harsha Bhogle’s Tweet For Jasprit Bumrah’s Sensational Bowling Spell Has Gone Viral

Harsha Bhogle’s Tweet For Jasprit Bumrah Has Gone Viral: Although the first 10 overs of an ODI are referred to as the batting powerplay, it was the Indian bowlers who were on top of the England batters in the first ODI of the series, on Tuesday at The Oval.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc upon the hosts’ batting line-up, and by the time the 15th over was done with Praisdh Krishna also getting into the act, the visitors had effectively sealed the game. England lost 5 wickets in the first 8 overs and were 7 down, including the dismissal of skipper Jos Buttler, by the 15-over mark.

Jasprit Bumrah, in particular, was staggeringly devastating, making full use of the swinging and seaming conditions in London. England were troubled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swing in the T20I series and their struggles continued against a rampant Jasprit Bumrah whose bowling figures by the end of his first spell of five overs read: 5-2-9-4

Jasprit Bumrah demolished the England batting order

He nipped out England’s top three of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root – the same top three that won them the 2019 World Cup – and then had Liam Livingstone as his fourth scalp, all in his opening new-ball spell.

After Shami had started tightly in the first over of the match, Bumrah struck straightaway, twice, in his first over, which ended as a double-wicket maiden.

Roy, yet to open his account, went for a drive to a full and well wide of off-stump delivery that swung in considerably and also seamed in. Roy inside-edged it and the ball crashed straight into his leg-stump.

Bairstow survived for a while but finally succumbed to Bumrah’s plan of outswing and then inswing, edging to Pant, while Livingstone was castled for a duck by a booming inswinging yorker after he had skipped down the track and looked to flick it on legside.

Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to express his amazement at the genius of Bumrah. Just like all of us, Bhogle too was hooked to his screen watching Bumrah unfurl his magic.

“What a spell! Can’t take my eyes off this performance by Bumrah,” Bhogle tweeted.
