Former India batsman Virender Sehwag was at the receiving end of angry fans on social media after he insultingly called Virat Kohli “Chamiya” while commentating during Day 3 of the Edgbaston Test.
Virat Kohli’s energy levels on the field during this Test match have been at the highest; even though he isn’t the captain anymore, Kohli has been lively on the field, celebrating each wicket animatedly, cheering loudly and even had a verbal spat with Jonny Bairstow, who later went on to smash a century.
Virat Kohli dances after Sam Billings’ wicket

After centurion Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal, wicket-keeper batter Sam Billings was providing late resistance. He was finally dismissed by Mohammed Siraj – bowled, inside-edging and dragging on his steer toward third-man onto his stumps after being cramped for room by Siraj’s incoming wobble delivery.

The Indian team was happy to see the back of Billings who could have decreaed India’s lead. Virat Kohli, in particular, was delighted with this dismissal and with Mohammed Siraj taking it, so much that he even danced waving both his hands sideways in the air.
Virender Sehwag, who was doing the Hindi commentary at the moment, said: “Chamiya naach rahi hai waha.”
While Sehwag thought he had made a funny comment, it wasn’t how social media fans took it as they slammed the former opener for his derogatory comment for both Kohli and women.
Here are some of the angry and upset reactions from fans on Sehwag’s “Chamiya” comment:

Not one bit surprised with what Sehwag has said. He has always been like this. Uses poor words more often than not
