Shashi Tharoor Got Trolled Badly For His Tweet On Sanju Samson And Deepak Hooda

On a day of absolute horror in the country, as the citizens of India mourn the loss of the Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal was killed by two murderers, veteran politician Shashi Tharoor said that people could have “take our minds off” helped by a thunderous record partnership between Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson in the second T20I between India and Ireland. However, he is now getting mercilessly trolled for his statement.

Opener Sanju Samson and number 3 batter Deepak Hooda put on a stunning show of exquisite power-hitting to propel India to a giant score of 225 in Dublin.

The pair created the record for the highest partnership for any wicket for India in the shortest format, surpassing the 165-run stand by Rohit and KL Rahul from 2017 vs Sri Lanka, finishing with 176 off 87 balls.

Such was the havoc caused by these two right-handers that only the best economy of any Ireland bowler was 8.8, followed by 9.5; rest two leaked over 10 runs and over and two more over 15!

Coming in the eleven for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, Samson started off his knock with a thickish outside edge that raced to the boundary and a gorgeous straight drive in the second over set the tone. After his opening partner Ishan Kishan’s dismissal, Deepak Hooda came and clattered sixes while Samson was content in stealing boundaries regularly, both took the powerplay total to 54/1.

What came next blew Ireland away in the next eleven overs as both Samson and Hooda stepped on the paddle. Both brought up their maiden T20I fifties and Hooda went on to convert it into a three-figure (104 off 57 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes) score while Samson fell for 77 off 42 balls, walloping 9 fours and 4 sixes. They took India to over 200 in the 17th over, however, the next set of batters couldn’t give the visitors a desired flourish.

Shashi Tharoor lauded the pair for giving some solace to fans

As the uproar in the country, and beyond, continues about the unfortunate, barbaric murder of Kanhaiya Lal, Tharoor reckoned this partnership was a small soothing balm on the cricket fans. He lauded the efforts of the two right-handers for their terrific exhibition.

“To take our minds off the horrors in the news today, what could be better than a record 176-run T20I partnership between @HoodaOnFire & @IamSanjuSamson? Congratulations to them & Team India for posting 225/7 against Ireland!” Tharoor tweeted.

Well, his tweet didn’t go down well with the fans, who are now trolling him left, right and center. Check out how he is getting trolled:
