Two of the most loved batting stalwarts — MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announced their retirement from international cricket on Saturday. The news came just a day after landing in Chennai for the pre-season training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League 2020.

MS Dhoni was the first one of the two to announce his retirement via an Instagram post. The former Indian cricketer took to his Instagram and shared a monologue of his journey with team India. Announcing his retirement, MS Dhoni wrote:
“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”

Soon after MS Dhoni announced announced his retirement via an Instagram post, Suresh Raina also joined MS Dhoni in the new journey of life. Announcing his retirement, he wrote:
“It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781 . With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India. Jai Hind!.”

However, the thing that left everyone surprised was the day both the cricketers chose to hang their boots. While the whole nation was celebrating Independence Day on 15th August as India completed 73 years of its independence.
Well, the jersey number of MS Dhoni is ‘7’ and Suresh Raina’s jersey number is ‘3’. If we write these two numbers together, they become ’73’, the same number of years India completed its independence. A tweet has been going viral on social media, where the twitter user named ‘Anurag’ explained the same.

Interestingly, the tweet soon caught the attention of Suresh Raina, who also responded to the same. Suresh Raina responded to the tweet by posting emojis of the Indian flag, though, it still remains unknown if the duo deliberately retired on a special day or it was just a coincidence.
