India captain Rohit Sharma testing positive for covid-19 on Saturday has been a major talking point for the past 24 hours and has also once again brought the results of not having a tight bio-bubble to the fore.
There is no strict bio-bubble for the teams on the India tour of England this time as the cricket world moves into the new normality. However, Rohit returning a positive covid test a few days before the Edgbaston Test has put his participation in the Test on hold and in doubt.
Sharma was part of the four-day warm-up match between Indians and Leicestershire at Grace Road, Leicester, which concluded on Sunday. A number of Indian players, including Pant, Bumrah, Pujara played for Leicestershire so that all the Indian squad members get match practice.

Since Rohit was part of the game and interacted in close proximity to the players, there was a new protocol set asking the Indian players to not engage with the local crowd.
However, Rishabh Pant being Rishabh Pant, the 24-year-old was seen signing the autographs and clicking photos with the fans who came to watch the game.
Nakul Pande, one of the broadcasters who was present at the ground, tweeted the video, in which the wicket-keeper was seen interacting with the fans.

Batting for Leicestershire, Pant smashed 76 runs off 87 balls in the first innings and didn’t get to bat in the second innings. This knock comes as a positive sign after the southpaw endured a mediocre IPL 2022 season, where the Delhi Capitals skipper scored 340 runs without a single half-century to his name.
