On the Holi and Dhuleti festivals in India last week, Sharma took to his Instagram to wish his fans. He posted a cute video that included his wife Ritika prepping him for the video. But, it is the caption on Sharma’s post that didn’t go down well with the netizens.

While wishing Happy Holi to his fans, Rohit asked them to avoid putting colours on the dogs and cats as it will harm them, especially if they lick the colours.

“All I want to say is “Happy Holi”. While you all have fun, please keep our furry friends in mind and be sure not to put any rang on them!,” Sharma captioned his Instagram post.

This preaching of keeping the dogs and cats safe from the colours was called out by the netizens, who pointed out Sharma expressed concern for these animals, but had no problems in eating beef (meat of cattle).

Fans recalled that Sharma and a few other Indian team members were spotted eating beef during their last tour of Australia when a fan there willingly offered to pay their bill while also uploaded the photo of their bill that included beef in it.

Sentimentally hurt, Twitterati slammed the Indian captain for imparting his care of dogs on social media but was openly eating beef.

Here are some of the angry reactions of the fans:

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will next be seen leading the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022. MI failed to reach the playoffs last season, and would be looking to do better this time around.
