While the whole country is under the lockdown to contain the outspread of Coronavirus, which has gripped the whole world, a piece of disturbing news has surfaced that has taken everyone by surprise. Well, if reports are to be believed than over 2,000 delegates including from Indonesia and Malaysia, attended the Tabligh-e-Jammat congregation that took place in Delhi’s Nizamuddin from March 1-15.
Late on Sunday night, members of Delhi Police and CRPF went to the area after they received a piece of information that a large number of people were showing symptoms of COVID-19. 6 people who attended the congregation have died because of the disease.
A total number of 100 more tests were conducted on the people who attended the event, results are awaited on Tuesday. While on the other hand, members of CRPF and Delhi Police are busy tracing the rest of the people who attended the event.
The former Indian cricketer and politician Gautam Gambhir, who is one of the most vocal personalities of India, took to his Twitter to express his disappointment over the matter. In his tweet, he slammed the people for gathering at Nizamuddin.
Gautam Gambhir also urged everyone to listen to the preventive measures provided by the government. He wrote:
“What were these people gathering at Nizamuddin thinking? Is it a joke that the entire country is under lockdown? One wrong action by anyone of us can lead to a disaster of gigantic proportions! Listen to the Government for heaven’s sake! #IndiaFightsCorona @BJP4Delhi”
