Irfan Pathan Reacts After Wriddhiman Saha’s Controversial Statements About Rahul Dravid

India’s wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has stirred an ugly controversy after he revealed his conversation with the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid about his axing.

The Indian selection committee made some big changes to the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka and dropped senior players from the squad. The committee dropped former vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Wriddhiman Saha.

Disappointed with the selectors’ decision to drop him, wicketkeeper Saha has made a big revelation. Speaking to The Times Of India, Wriddhiman Saha has confirmed that he was informed about being dropped beforehand. Saha made a big revelation by stating that Rahul Dravid had indirectly advised him to think about retirement. He had said:

“Yes, the team management told me that I would not be considered henceforth. I could not tell this so long as I was part of the India team setup. Even coach Rahul Dravid suggested that I think about taking retirement,” he has told TOI.

When I hit an unbeaten 61 taking a pain-killer in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur last November, Dadi (as Sourav was referred to by Bengal players) congratulated me over Whatsapp. He even mentioned that I should not worry about anything so long as he is at the helm of the BCCI. Such a message from the board president really boosted my confidence. But I failed to understand why everything changed so fast.”

Meanwhile, hours after wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha revealed the exact conversation former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has opened up with his opinion on the matter. Irfan Pathan took to Twitter to share his views on the matter and also asked the netizens about their opinion on the same as well. Irfan wrote:

“An honest coach Or someone just gives hope even after knowing that a player doesn’t fit in the scheme of things? Your opinion????? For me an honest coach ALWAYS!”
