India’s limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma is on the verge of breaking MS Dhoni’s record of most sixes for India in ODIs at home with just one more big hit. Sharma, known for his eye-catching pull shot, is tied with Dhoni at 116 sixes in home ODI while playing for India.

MS Dhoni recorded this figure in 113 home innings while Sharma in 69 innings. Rohit can go past this with one more six in the upcoming third ODI versus West Indies in Ahmedabad. Dhoni, though, has 123 total ODI sixes in India as he smacked 7 maximums while batting for Asia XI in three innings.

At the same time, Virat can leave Sourav Ganguly behind in this matter; both of them have hit 57 sixes so far on Indian soil in ODIs while playing for India; Ganguly struck a single six for Asia XI.

Overall in all internationals, Chris Gayle is leading the charts with a mammoth 553 maximums; Shahid Afridi is a well-behind second with 476 sixes, and likely to be eclipsed soon by third-placed Rohit Sharma who has beaten 458 international maximums.

Rohit Sharma, who stroked a fluent fifty in the first ODI, also has a chance to surpass Mohammad Azharuddin in terms of ODI runs. Sharma has scored 9270 runs at an average of 48 while Azharuddin amassed 9378 (108 more than Rohit) at 36.
