Shahrukh Khan Names The Player He Idolises The Most

Tamil Nadu all-rounder Shahrukh Khan has spoken about his idol, MS Dhoni, and his dream to win games for India as Dhoni used to.

Shahrukh Khan has developed a massive reputation as a finisher in the domestic circuit. The swashbuckling batter showcased his finishing skills during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Karnataka a few months back. He smashed 33* off 15 balls, including a last-ball six to take Tamil Nadu to the title.

Shahrukh was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 5.25 crore last season. He struck at a strike rate of 134 in 11 matches and often the late power-hitting. The right-hander will be up for grabs in the IPL 2022 mega-auction with a base price of 40 lakhs.

Speaking with Times Of India, Shahrukh Khan spoke highly of his role model – former India captain MS Dhoni, who will be leading CSK, perhaps for his last season in the IPL.

“I idolize MS Dhoni and want to finish the games the way he did for India. I have always looked up to Dhoni and I want to become a finisher like him,” Shahrukh told TOI.

Speaking about his mentality while batting, the 26-year-old explained that he doesn’t let the pressure get the better of him, and tries to remain as much calm as possible. Shahrukh Khan asserted that while he is well-known for his hard-hitting, he is capable of batting in lower gears if the situation demands.

“When I go to the crease, I am mentally prepared and don’t think about the pressure. I keep calm and play my game. I know how to shift gears as per match situations. I always want to get the job done for my team and I don’t let the pressure hit me when I am on the crease. When you think about individual performance rather than the team, then the pressure is seen clearly on your face. And, I put my team first, not me. I don’t think about myself. That’s why I don’t feel pressure,” the youngster added.

Shahrukh and his Tamil Nadu team-mate R Sai Kishore both have been drafted as stand-bys in India’s squad for the three T20Is in Kolkata against West Indies.
