A lot has been written and said about India’s former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and his poor run of form off-lately. However, the Mumbai-based batter made a stunning comeback on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg.
Ajinkya Rahane, who was going through a lean phase in his Test career, was struggling to score runs with the bat. Several experts and pundits were questioning Rahane’s spot in the playing XI for Team India. However, despite all the criticism and questions on Rahane’s spot, the Indian team management decided to extend their support to Rahane.
After getting dismissed on a golden duck in the first innings of the ongoing Test match, Ajinkya Rahane was based left, right, and center on social media. The ongoing innings were of utmost significance for the senior batter if he had to further claim a spot in the playing XI in the upcoming games. It won’t be wrong to say Ajinkya Rahane, who was stripped off his vice-captaincy recently was playing for his career in the ongoing game.

In the ongoing innings, Rahane stitched a crucial partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara as the duo together led the battle against the Proteas bowlers. Rahane and Pujara, both the senior batters registered half-centuries to take India’s lead past the 100-run mark.
Rahane played a marvelous knock of 58 runs under pressure to help put India back in a good position. During his knock, he smashed 8 fours and 1 six, before he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.
Meanwhile, after Rahane’s comeback, social media was flooded with reactions from the fans to it. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone took to Twitter and shared amazing reactions to the performance of Rahane. There were many who came up with hilarious memes and jokes as well.

Pujara and Rahane had their backs to the wall. But The Wall had their backs all along. What a way to repay the faith. Vital partnership in the context of the game. #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/Ukr1oj9YLH

Hope Rahane doesn’t lose his batting focus, as now he might be thinking about a good Instagram caption for trolls.
