Ravi Shastri’s stint as the head coach of the Indian cricket team came to an end after India’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2021. The legendary player had joined the Indian side as the head coach in July 2017 and he signed off from his tenure in November 2021. Ravi Shastri was replaced by legendary Indian batter Rahul Dravid, who has joined the national team for a period of 2 years.
In his four-and-a-half-year tenure as India’s men’s head coach, Ravi Shastri alongwith the Indian skipper Virat Kohli took the Indian Test cricket to another level. Though they have enjoyed sustained success in bilateral white-ball cricket as well but their achievements in red-ball cricket have been tremendous.
Ever since his tenure came to an end, there have been reports suggesting that the former cricketer might join n the Ahmedabad-based IPL team with Bharat Arun and R Sridhar. For the unversed, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar were part of India’s backroom staff along with Shastri, who helped team India achieve new milestones.
Recently, while speaking to The Week, Shastri responded to the most-discussed question and showed interest in joining an IPL franchise. He said:
“If asked, I would 100 per cent like to be a franchise coach. I will definitely do broadcast work. I have 25 years of experience there and have travelled the globe. [Also,] I now know how the modern player thinks,”
There are also reports that state that the legendary cricketer might return back to do the broadcast work. Shastri has been one of the most loved voices in the game. However, so far, Shastri hasn’t confirmed his comeback in the commentary box.
