India’s opening batsman Mayank Agarwal made a blockbuster comeback to international cricket as he scored an unbeaten century on Day 1 of the ongoing 2nd Test match against New Zealand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Prior to this century, Mayank had gone two years without a century. last scored his century in November 2019 against Bangladesh in Indore, where he smashed 243 runs. Ever since then, has had a difficult run in the longest format of the game.

He has been in and out of the squad in recent times and in fact, there were questions raised at his place in the playing XI after he failed to contribute much with the bat in the first Test match against New Zealand in Kanpur, with Virat Kohli returning back to the team.

Mayank scored a stunning 120 under pressure on an opening day. It was a crucial and a special knock from Mayank as it came after India suffered a mini-collapse in the middle.

Meanwhile, the opening batsman has been receiving praises from all corners for his solid performance. From cricketers, experts to pundits, everyone is hailing the batting efforts of Mayank Agarwal.

Among many, former Indian cricketer RP Singh also took to his social media and wrote a special post for Mayank Agarwal. In his Facebook post, RP Singh explained how Mayank played the most satisfying innings of his career. He wrote:

“First 12 inns- 3 tons and 3 fifties
Last 13 innings- No ton and only 1 fifty
Today #MayankAgarwal probably scored his most satisfying innings since his debut series in Australia. Well played young man! #IndiaVsNewZealand”
