Candice Warner on Tim Paine’s controversy: Tim Paine’s sexting scandal has rocked Australian cricket and diverted all the attention away from the 22-yards ahead of the all important Ashes series. Recently, David Warner’s wife Candice Warner spoke on the issue and made some extremely important points.
Candice Warner said that it is slightly concerning that Cricket Australia believes that it is not okay for an Australian captain to send those messages, but it is okay for an Australian player.

“They’re (CA) basically saying that it’s not okay for an Australian cricket captain to send these messages, but it’s okay for an Australian player,” Warner told 2GB radio. “As a wife of an Australian player, that is slightly concerning and it does make me worry.”
Candice made a very valid point because it shouldn’t matter whether a player is captaining a side or not, if he sends such creepy messages to a woman. This seems a bit hypocritical that Cricket Australia is only focus on the captaincy issue and not looking at the larger picture.
Dwelling more on the issue, Candice Warner said that it is good that the Australian team is rallying around Tim Paine but it is also important to support his family and give them all the support they need in these tough times.
“I think there are reports that the players are getting around and supporting him, but it’s also about supporting his family through a really difficult situation,” Candice Warner said.
When asked about how Tim Paine will handle England’s Barmy Army during the Ashes, she said:
“I don’t know how Tim Paine will handle it (the Barmy Army), or if he will have to handle it,” Candice said.
“But in regard to David and myself, you’ve got to look at it in a certain way.
“I know David looks at it as ‘if they’re singing about me (David), they’re worried about me’.
“So David uses it as a fuel to fire him up and get going.
“It is how you want to take it. It can affect people.”
