AB de Villiers is one of the most loved overseas cricketers in India. The legendary South African cricketer is the only player to have featured in all the editions of the IPL since its inception. He has been one of the greatest ambassadors of the game and has played numerous match-winning performances playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and his country.
On Friday, an era came to an end after AB de Villiers shared a long message for his fans, wherein he announced that he has decided to bring the curtains down on his illustrious career.
AB de Villiers shared a series of Tweets announcing his decision. In his Tweets, he shared his journey from playing the game of cricket with his older brothers in his backyard to playing for the country. He also thanked his family members, teammates, and everyone who was on this journey with him.
Here, check out the Tweet:
It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.
Ever since the back yard matches with my older brothers, I have played the game with pure enjoyment and unbridled enthusiasm. Now, at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns so brightly. pic.twitter.com/W1Z41wFeli

Among many, Parvinder Awana, the India international player, also took to his social media and shared a video from one of the best moments from his IPL career. Parvinder shared a video of him shattering the stumps behind AB de Villiers to send him back to the pavilions, during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings XI (now Punjab Kings).
Sharing the video: “Thank you @ABdeVilliers17 for your contribution to cricket.”

However, the Tweet didn’t go down well with the cricket fans, who feel that the tweet was in bad taste. Twitterati are trolling Parvinder Awana left, right, and center for his tweet. There were many who reminded him of the times when he was smashed all over the ground by cricketers like Suresh Raina in his IPL career.
Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:
He is such a big player who has been a great ambassador of the game. Kam se kam uski nahin to apne khel ki to izzat kar lo.
