It was the second day of the auction when Virender Sehwag bought him for the base price of Rs.2 crores for Kings XI Punjab. Since day one, Virender Sehwag was very sure of Chris Gayle’s performance. His thrilling performances didn’t came out unexpectedly to him.
“Isn’t it right? I saved the IPL – nobody is bigger than Gayle. I was expecting Gayle to do this.” Virender Sehwag said.

“A lot of people said ‘Chris has a point to prove.’  he added.
Virender Sehwag also talked about Gayle’s performance in the last season of IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said:
“He was suffering from a bad back and he missed a lot of games. Virat Kohli dropped him because he was not scoring runs and not many people were going to buy him,”

In an interview, Virender Sehwag said:
“If Chris wins you two games, we have our monies worth. “
Virender Sehwag was not at all surprised with the performance of Chris Gayle. When Chris Gayle scored a century, he took to twitter to express his happiness about the same, have a look at the tweet:
