MS Dhoni is one of the greatest captains in cricket history. Over the years, we have seen him lead Team India and Chennai Super Kings (in IPL) in the most elegant, classy and effective manner.
Dhoni bursted onto international arena as a very attacking batsman who could also keep wickets. At that time, India were struggling to find a long-term solution for a wicketkeeper-batsman and Dhoni’s flamboyance and consistency provided that.
Dhoni became an instant hit among Indian cricket fans but the biggest turning point in his career came when he was made the captain of young Indian team in the ICC World T20 in 2007 and he led India to a marvellous win in the first ever T20 World Cup on the English soil.
In the recently concluded match between CSK and SRH, Dhoni did something unusual when he spoke to DJ Bravo for good two minutes before the last ball when SRH needed 6 runs to win off the last ball. Usually, Dhoni doesn’t give too much advice to his bowlers during the match and that is why Sanjay Manjrekar asked him about it in the post-match interview.
“What did you tell Dwayne Bravo before the last delivery?” Sanjay Manjrekar asked.
“Well, that is between the brothers,” Dhoni replied.
Dhoni and Bravo are good friends on and off the field but it was good to hear MS using “brother” for Bravo.
“But, usually, we don’t see you talking too much with your bowlers in the middle?” Sanjay Manjrekar further asked.
