Venkatesh Prasad Slammed ‘Shameless’ Waqar Younis For His ‘Namaz In front Of Hindus’ Comment

Former Pakistani skipper Waqar Younis has disappointed cricket lovers from around the world with his communal rant after the recently-held India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match on Sunday. His insensitive and nonsensical remarks have been drawing major flak on social media.

Several prominent personalities have called out the former cricketer for his insensitive communal remark, where he revealed that his favorite part of the India vs Pakistan clash was  Mohammad Rizwan offering Namaz in front of Hindus during the match.

For the unversed, Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan was seen offering namaz during the drinks break when India was batting in the game.

After the game, during a talk show, Waqar Younis made an insensitive statement. He said: “Mohammad Rizwan offering namaz in front of Hindus was very very special for me”.

Shoaib Akhtar, who was also present at the talk show when the former Pakistani pacer made the comment but Akhtar didn’t even flinch after listening to such an insensitive statement.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad also took to his Twitter and gave a hard-hitting reply to the former Pakistan skipper.

In his tweet, Venkatesh Prasad called out Waqar Younis for showing his ‘Jihadi mindset’ on Pakistan primetime television. Prasad also called him shameless for trying to bring communal angels into a sport. He wrote:

Hinduon ke beech me khade hoke namaaz padi, that was very very special for me” – Waqar .
Takes jihadi mindset of another level to say this in a sport. What a shameless man.

Earlier, renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle also took to his Twitter and shared a series of tweets slamming Waqar Younis. In his thread, Bhogle claimed that Younis’ insensitive comment “is one of the most disappointing things I have heard”.
