With the T20 World Cup 2021 all set to kickstart from October 17, India’s new bowling sensation Shardul Thakur has been added to India’s squad for the mega tournament as a last-minute change. Shardul Thakur, who is currently with the Chennai Super Kings squad, has replaced Axar Patel, who will now join the Indian squad as a stand-by player list which also includes the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar.

On Wednesday, the BCCI announced this last-minute change via their official social media handles and fans went berserk. Also, Shardul’s addition to the Indian squad is also being seen as a back-up option for all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who hasn’t bowled in months and has been plagued with constant health and fitness issues.

He has also given some memorable performances with the bat as well, in the IPL 2021 and in the recent India-England Test series as well.

Fans on social media went into a state of frenzy and in no time, social media was flooded with amazing reactions from the fans to the news. This means Hardik is fit, Varun has no fitness issues and Rahul Chahar was held back for strategic reasons. Smart change because Shardul should always have been in the XV https://t.co/cdUTaKPT4T

If you think Shardul is actually a back up for Hardik. With Jaddu surely there Axar may not have made the first team. Explains the call.
