An era came to an end tonight as RCB skipper Virat Kohli played his last match as the ‘captain’ of the franchise. The cricket fraternity was left heartbroken after Virat failed to end his RCB’s captaincy career on a high note as his team was eliminated from the IPL 2021.
Kolkata Knight Riders continued their brilliant run in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. They knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the IPL 2021 by defeating them by 4 wickets in the eliminator 1.
KKR’s star performer Sunil Narine gave a terrific all-around performance and broke havoc in the RCB’s camp. He first restricted the opposition and then their batters chased down the total very easily.
As the match began, Virat Kohli decided to bat first in a knockout game. While RCB started the game brilliantly, but once again we witnessed a miserable collapse in the middle courtesy of the terrific bowling by Sunil Narine, who picked 4 crucial wickets of — Virat Kohli, KS Bharat, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell. The Virat-led side failed to find momentum throughout their innings.
Later, chasing while chasing the target of 139 runs The opening duo of Venkatesh Iyer and Shubman Gill added 41 runs together, and as expected RCB bowlers made it tough for the KKR batters to score run in the middle.
RCB managed to hit back at KKR by picking quick wickets of Gill, Rahul Tripathi, and Venkatesh Iyer. However, just when things looked right in balance, KKR decided to send Sunil Narine, who went absolutely crazy with the bat. Thanks to some stunning shots by Sunil Narine, the game was turned on its head.
With this loss, Virat Kohli’s captaincy stint in the IPL without winning a trophy came to an end. He will be playing as a pure batsman from the next season.
