Shahid Afridi Gives An Open Warning To The England Cricket Board

Veteran Pak all-rounder Shahid Afridi is not happy with the recent turn of events that led to the last-minute cancellation of the New Zealand vs Pakistan’s ODI series. On Friday, the New Zealand cricket team called off the series in Pakistan abruptly without a ball being bowled, just before the first ODI in Rawalpindi over after a “government security alert”.

Following the unfortunate incident, several Pakistani cricketers have come out in support of their country and the Pakistan Cricket Board. The decision of the New Zealand team has also angered former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi.

Shahid Afridi Gives An Open Warning To The England Cricket Board

Now both men and women cricket teams of Pakistan and England are scheduled to lock horns with each other in a bilateral series next month. There are rumors that ECB might cancel their upcoming tour considering the security of their players.

On Saturday, Afridi took to his Twitter and reckoned that it’s time for the England and Wales Cricket Board to ‘show their appreciation towards PCB through actions.

Well, for the unversed, back in 2020, Pakistan toured England for a bilateral series when the entire world was battling with the COVID-19 pandemic. In his Tweet, Afridi asked ECB to replicate something similar. As per Afridi,  England shouldn’t have any second thoughts regarding their tour of Pakistan. He wrote:

It is time for ECB to show their appreciation of PCB through actions and not words. Despite the mind-boggling Blackcaps’ decision, Pakistan remains a safe place to tour. ECB should not forget our support for them last year in a very tough COVID-19 situation,”
