Kamran Akmal Adds A New Joke To The POK Premier League Controversy: Ever since Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League was announced, it has garnered eyeballs from all around the world, however, for all the controversial reasons. While some people have come out in support of the new league, the others have pulled out of the controversial tournament even before the first ball was bowled.
For the unversed, the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League is being organized with the “blessings” of PCB on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which is a restive territory that belongs to India but has been forcibly occupied by Pakistan almost since it came into being.
While the controversial tournament is receiving criticism every day from all corners, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has added another joke into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League.
Recently, speaking on his latest YouTube video, Kamran Akmal claimed that the Indian board should support the controversial tournament. As per him, sports is something that unites everyone. He said:
“It was not easy to organize KPL at such a scale in Muzaffarabad. There were a lot of difficulties and hurdles faced. You would have read how players were stopped from coming here. According to me, when it comes to sports, one country should support the other and not create hurdles. That is not good at all. Sports is something that unites.”
However, seems like Kamran Akmal forgot that the same Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which belongs to India, has been a major issue of dispute between Pakistan and India. Ever since the subsequent partition there have always been political tensions between both countries and this is one of the reasons why this league is being criticized so much.
Infact, the same dispute is the reason why both the countries have not played a single bilateral series since 2012-13.
Meanwhile, Monty Panesar, who recently pulled out of the POK Premier League clarified that it wasn’t BCCI who threatened him, but rather the decision of the England Cricket Board (ECB) and Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for him.
