Australian star batsman Steve Smith is hailed as one of the best batsmen around the world right now. Over the years, in his sensational Test career, he has produced numerous scintillating knocks. However, his blitzes in Ashes 2019 still stand out.

The sensational knock marked his comeback in the Test team after the infamous sandpaper-gate scandal. Moreover, before the knock, the England fans in the stadium were leaving no stone unturned in booing the Australian cricketer over the ugly episode.

However, Steve Smith gave a shutting reply to all his critics and made a stunning return to Test cricket. He gave nightmares to the England bowlers as he thrashed them throughout the series. In fact, Smith scored twin century in the very first match of the series.

Initially, it looked like the decision of the Australian side of batting first didn’t seem spot-on as they suffered a batting collapse with the likes of David Warner, Tim Paine, and others getting out for low scores. However, Smith kept his calm and gave one of the best performances of his career.

Smith scored an amazing century in the first innings. In total, he scored 144 off 219 deliveries, where his knock was laced with 16 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Interestingly, the knock was played on August 1st and Steve Smith took to his Twitter yesterday to recall his favorite innings. Sharing the memories, Smith wrote:

“On this day 2 years ago I scored my favourite Test 100. So many emotions came out in this moment and I’ll always cherish it”

The tweet went viral in no time and was flooded with amazing reactions from the twitterati on this. However, one of the best tweets came from a groundsman of the Ageas Bowl, who came up with a brilliant reply to his tweet. In his reply, the groundsman revealed how Smith prepared for that knock. He wrote:

“I tell everyone that at Hampshire in ashes base camp in 19. 7.45am you where padded up asked if nets ready? 3 hrs later you ran to field all day stuff people will never see!!!!”
