India’s young and talented Prithvi Shaw once again found himself at the receiving end of criticism after he threw his wicket away again after giving a brilliant start. Prithvi Shaw, who registered scores of 43 and 13 in the first two games, looked in fine touch in the ongoing third and final ODI match against Sri Lanka.
Though team India lost Shikhar Dhawan early in the innings, but Prithvi Shaw maintained his calm and backed his attacking game, and smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park. He looked more comfortable on the crease as compared to the previous two games as he was seen handling the challenging deliveries with the utmost respect.
But his strike rate was never on the lower strike and fans expected a game-changing knock from him. However, contrary to the expectations, Shaw was soon dismissed and was sent back to the pavilion for a run-a-ball 49 in the 16th over. He was dismissed by the Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka, who trapped the 21-year-old in front of the stumps. He scored 49 runs off 49 balls, where he smashed 8 fours.
Shaw tried to guide the delivery square on the leg side, however, he failed miserably to make any connection. The Sri Lankans then appealed for the LBW but Shaw couldn’t agree to the decision. Thus, he went for a review but it couldn’t save him. The replays clearly showed that the ball was hitting the middle stump and hence India lost a vital review.
Meanwhile, fans were not happy at all with Shaw for taking an ‘unnecessary review.’ Fans are trolling him left, right and center. There were many who started comparing him to the legendary Indian batsman Virender Sehwag after he wasted a review.
