Irfan Pathan Named 2 Players Who Will Struggle A Lot In WTC Final

Irfan Pathan Named 2 Players Who Will Struggle A Lot In WTC Final: The ICC World Test Championship Final is just three days away with the Indian cricket team all set to lock horns with the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand. While the Indian cricket team is sweating it out by playing intra-squad matches ahead of the mega-event, on the other hand, the New Zealand cricket team recently clinched a two-match Test series against England by 1-0.

It very certain that Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will open against New Zealand in the WTC final, however, there are some experts who are strongly arguing to include Mayank Agarwal.

Ahead of the match, former Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has a piece of advice for openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, before they face the dangerous bowling attack of the New Zealand cricket team. Recently, during an interactive session on Star Sports, Irfan stated that he would go with Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma as his first-choice openers however he also warned the duo of the challenges that await them. He said

“I will definitely back Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, but they will have a lot of difficulties because of the bowling in front of them; one gets the ball in, and the other takes it away. Both of them will try to pitch the ball up, and there the two openers have to manage,”

Further, Irfan Pathan said that Shubman Gill wouldn’t carry the baggage from his IPL performances for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he failed to leave a mark with his performace. Irfan feels that Shubman will start with a fresh phase considering it is a new format for him and he did well. He said:

We are talking about Shubman Gill that his performance in the IPL were not that good, but that is a different format. He started off very well in the red-ball format in Australia. You don’t forget that so soon, and you go according to the format.”
