Virender Sehwag Named Three Cricketers Who Helped Him In His Career, Sachin Not Included

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is hailed as one of the most destructive cricketers to have ever played the game for India. Fondly called the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ by his fans, Sehwag used to take the opposition bowlers to cleaners from the word go.

While the explosive batsman used to give nightmares to the opposition bowlers all around the world, however, Sehwag revealed that he had a flaw in his batting technique and how three cricket stalwarts helped him in his career.

Well, recently, in an interview, Virender Sehwag revealed how three of the biggest legends of India and world cricket helped him in having a successful career and overcome his limitation. He revealed:

There were many experts and cricketers in my early years of international cricket who used to point out my lack of foot movement, but none had any plausible suggestions to rectify it,”

The right-handed batsman credited three former India players – Tiger Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kris Srikkanth – that helped him to overcome his limitations. He revealed:

“They told me that rather than thinking about my footwork, I should start batting on middle or off-stump instead of taking my stance on leg stump. That helped me come closer to the ball. It improved my game, and credit goes to them,”

Further during the interaction, Virender Sehwag was also asked about Prithvi Shaw’s approach, who despite giving terrific performances remains a bit aloof from the selection radar. Giving a piece of advice to Prithvi, Sehwag said that the youngster should also follow his mantra that helped him during his cricketing days. He said:

Suno sabki, karo apni… take advice from everyone, but do only what suits your game,”
