Dinesh Karthik Compared This Indian Cricketer To Virender Sehwag And Adam Gilchrist: The Indian cricket team has been in great form across formats for a long time now. One batsman who has impressed one and all with his improved performances is Rishabh Pant. The cricket fraternity is in awe of the young keeper-batsman, who has produced several match-winning performances in the last few months.

Recently, senior Indian keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik showered praises on Rishabh Pant as he compared him with the likes of the legendary players — Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist.

Dinesh Karthik claimed that Pant has a similar impact on the opposition as Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist during their days. He said:

“He lends flexibility to the team and the management has the opportunity to play the extra batsman or the bowler as per requirement. And what is most important is the way he instils fear in the mind of opposition. Pant has the effect that Virender Sehwag or Adam Gilchrist used to have on rivals,”

Rishabh Pant has been incredibly good away from home. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia last year, Pant turned out to be the highest scorer with 274 runs in the 5 innings he played with an average of 68.50. He also hit the winning runs in the 4th and final Test.

Rishabh Pant will be looking forward to leaving a mark with his performance in the upcoming World Test Championship Final against New Zealand as well as the five-match Test series against England.

Further in the interview, hailing Wriddhiman Saha as the ‘best wicketkeeper in the world’, Karthik claimed that Pant’s game will improve with time. He said:

“He has Wriddhiman Saha in the team, who, according to me, is the best wicketkeeper in the world. The way Saha is, he will always be ready to help him out…And I know for a fact even Parthiv Patel helped him out when he was in Australia,”
