IPL 2021: On Thursday, the England Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, and other England players involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) would miss the second phase of the season.

Ashley Gill, who is the director of ECB, announced that England cricketers have a busy schedule ahead in the lead-up to the much-awaited T20 World Cup.

Talking about the busy schedule of the England cricketers, the team is all set to play against New Zealand in a two-match Test series in June, following which they host Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India. The India-England Test series will come to an end on September 14.

England will then fly to Bangladesh and Pakistan for bilateral series before the much-awaited T20 World Cup. Thus, the players won’t get a window to participate in the second phase of the IPL 2021, which is likely to take place from mid-September to the first second week of October in UAE..

Giles also confirmed that the players would rest on occasions. He also announced that the players won’t be allowed to play anywhere during the resting period. He said:

“We have a full schedule. If we go from the end of the fifth Test in September, we are set to leave for Bangladesh”

He added:

“We are going to have to give some of these guys a break at some point. But the intention of giving guys a break for, say, Bangladesh, wouldn’t be for them to go and play cricket elsewhere. We have to manage our schedule now, so we get our guys arriving in the best shape possible for the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.”
