Suryakumar Yadav Revealed How He Smashed First-Ball Six Off Jofra Archer

Suryakumar Yadav made a blockbuster entry into his international career. SKY received his maiden-call for the Indian cricket team however he didn’t get the chance to show and was eventually dropped in the 3rd T20I. However, the cricketer got another opportunity to showcase his skills in the 4th t20 match against England, where he played a stunning and memorable knock of 31-ball 57.

Walking down to bat at number three for India, SKY played like a star and stole the show with his blistering knock. However, what caught everyone’s attention was the very first shot that he smashed for a six in an unorthodox manner. Star pacer Jofra Archer became the victim of SKY’s stunning shot.

The stunning six came in the fourth over, right after Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 12 by Jofra Archer, who welcomed him with a short delivery at 143.9 kph. However, SKY went on his backfoot and smashed the ball over the fine leg fence and left everyone jaw-dropped. Suryakumar became the first Indian cricketer to start an international career with a first ball SIX.

Later after the match, Shardul Thakur and Suryakumar Yadav got involved in an interactive session. During the chit-chat session, Shardul asked SKY to open up about that particular shot.

Responding to this, SKY revealed that he knew Jofra Archer’s planing through his experience in the Indian Premier League and he has been practicing the particular shot for a long time now. SKY said:

I have always seen him [ Jofra Archer] whenever a new batsman is up against him in international cricket, he tries to keep the batter on their backfoot. And, I have played some matches over the years against him in the IPL. So, I have an idea about that.

This shot [the six over fine leg] is a shot that I have been playing for a long time since my local cricket days. I have played this shot in local cricket, domestic cricket, and now in international cricket,”
