Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the greatest cricketers for India when it comes to the longest format of the game. Over the years, Ravi Ashwin has become the backbone of the Indian bowling line-up in red-ball cricket.

However, despite this fact, the legendary spinner hasn’t been considered for the limited-overs squads but Ashwin isn’t too concerned about not being picked for the limited format. Ashwin, who has played 111 ODIs and 46 T20Is, played his last white-ball match way back in 2017. Since then, the Indian selectors have kept Ashwin as a Test cricket specialist.

Lately, the cricketer impressed one and all with his performance in the four-match Test series against England, where he picked 32 wickets. Not just this, he was equally good with the bat as he scored a stunning century during the series.

He was also awarded the man of the series award for his exceptional performance. However, following the win, many experts and media houses started speculating his potential return to the limited format of the game.

Recently, in an interaction, Ravi Ashwin stated that he finds it funny when he is constantly asked about his limited-format dreams. He claimed that he is at peace where he is in life right now. He said:

“A lot of times, people tell these lines on leadership forums that you need to compete with yourself. But I have definitely found the balance and learned in life about how I must be competing with myself and be at complete peace when I am doing that. Because when some of these questions are asked about my ODI return, T20I return, white-ball dreams and all these things, I find those questions are really laughable because I am totally at peace and extremely happy with the life I am leading right now,”

Further, he said that he would definitely give a game-breaking performance if given an opportunity. He said:

“That given an opportunity anywhere, I would make a game-breaking performance which I am almost certain about because of the space I find myself in. What questions people have to ask what opinions people have, I am not worried about it at all. As of now, every single game I play out there in the park, I want to leave a smile on my face, and everybody else’s,”

Earlier when the Indian skipper was asked about Ashwin’s return, he had backed Washington Sundarand stated that it is not an option to leave him now that he has performed well.
